At Costa Dentistry, we offer complimentary consultations for Invisalign. For Invisalign consultations, the patient will receive a free 3D smile scan and smile simulation with doctor recommendations for treatment. For cosmetic services, the consultation with the doctor will be complimentary to discuss aesthetic goals and options. If X-rays are required to determine treatment, they will not be included in the consultation.

iTero® Digital Scanning
The iTero® Element scanner replaces traditional impression molds with a fast, accurate 3D digital scan of your teeth. We capture thousands of data points in minutes using a small handheld wand that takes a precise digital model of your mouth. Costa Dentistry uses this for Invisalign® treatment, fitting Vivera® retainers, designing crowns and bridges, and more. The iTero scanner also features the Outcome Simulator, which lets you preview a digital image of your potential Invisalign® result before treatment even begins.
Intraoral Cameras
An intraoral camera is a small, pen-sized device with a tiny camera at the tip that lets us capture high-resolution images of the inside of your mouth. Intraoral cameras help us identify cracks, decay, worn restorations, and gum issues that might go undetected, and they make it easier for you to understand your diagnosis and feel confident in your treatment plan. These images are reflected on a nearby screen so we can discuss your dental health and treatment together.
Panoramic X-Rays
Panoramic X-rays are a type of digital radiography. Unlike traditional X-rays, they capture a complete image of your oral structures, including the temporomandibular joints (TMJ) and the upper and lower jaws. Our dentists may use panoramic X-rays for examination before treatment. This gives us a more comprehensive understanding of your oral health needs so that we can provide you with treatments to improve your oral health and smile.
Digital X-Rays
Digital X-rays use an electronic sensor instead of traditional film to capture images of your teeth and bone structure. Compared to conventional X-rays, digital X-rays are faster, produce sharper images, and expose patients to significantly less radiation. Images are available instantly, too, making it easy for your dentist to review findings with you in real time.

What is the difference between digital and film X-rays?
Traditional film X-rays usually require chemicals to produce the images of your teeth, and the process to capture the images is longer, less comfortable and less convenient. Digital X-rays are faster, more efficient and produce up to 90% less radiation than film radiography.
What is the iTero® scanner used for?
The iTero® scanner is used whenever a precise 3D model of your teeth is needed. This includes fitting Invisalign® clear aligners, ordering Vivera® retainers, designing crowns, bridges, and other restorations, and planning implant placement. It replaces traditional impression molds entirely.
What does an intraoral camera do that a regular dental exam doesn't?
A standard visual exam with a dental mirror is limited by angle, lighting, and the size of the area being viewed. An intraoral camera gives us high-resolution, close-up images of areas that are difficult to see clearly.
What is a cosmetic dentist?
A cosmetic dentist has completed additional training to expand their knowledge so that they can provide treatments involving the appearance of their patients’ teeth with greater skill and precision in order to achieve beautiful, long-lasting results. What are my options for a smile makeover?
There are a wide range of treatments available, and our dentists will discuss your smile goals and oral health with you in order to create a treatment plan. Some of the treatments that may be included in your smile makeover include teeth whitening, veneers, crowns, bridges, implants and dental bonding.
Does cosmetic dentistry address crooked teeth?
Yes! Cosmetic dentistry works to improve the appearance, alignment and function of your teeth, and there are several types of treatment that may meet your needs, including orthodontics, tooth contouring, dental bonding or veneers. Our dentists will examine your mouth to determine which treatment is right for you.
How long will it take to get the smile I want?
The length of your treatment will depend on the condition of your teeth and the type and combination of treatments needed to meet your smile goals. For example, teeth whitening and dental bonding can be completed in just one visit, while veneers typically require two. We will provide you with an estimated treatment time when we create your treatment plan.
Is cosmetic dentistry appropriate for children?
Maybe. It depends on the child’s age, dental development, and whether there is a problem that needs to be corrected. For example, children and adolescents with severe discoloration or with broken teeth may benefit from cosmetic treatment. However, if their mouth is still growing and developing, our dentists may recommend waiting to begin any kind of treatment.
Are my results permanent?
Your results should last for many years to come as long as you maintain good oral hygiene at home and continue to visit the dentist regularly for preventive care. Some treatments, such as teeth whitening, may occasionally need to be touched up to ensure the best results.
Will my insurance cover cosmetic dentistry?
It depends on your dental insurance provider. Insurance coverage and out-of-pocket payments for cosmetic dentistry vary. If coverage is available, we will coordinate with your insurance provider to help you maximize your benefits. We also offer several financial options. We will review your treatment cost with you prior to beginning a treatment.
